“Future of Turkey’s Ruling Party Hangs in Balance as Internal Elections Loom”

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) of Turkey is preparing for its most important internal elections in history. This follows the local elections that took place after the party’s failure to win in the parliamentary elections, as reported by Ekonomim. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the party’s management will undergo an internal election process after the local election campaigns. Despite the decline in the local and general elections, the mayors of major cities, Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, retained their positions. Experts have attributed the failure of the management team to the worsening economic situation in the country.

“In the last 23 years, after losing and winning in seven general elections, four local elections, three parliamentary elections, and three referendums, the AK Parti is preparing for the biggest ideological changes in its history, as well as changes in the management of the country after the local elections on March 31,” the newspaper wrote. AK Parti members recognize the need for changes not only in the party’s cadres and organization but also in its management and policies, given the electoral results. Reports suggest that changes will be made in the composition of the government, including the inclusion of technocrats alongside politicians. It is believed that these changes will begin with the party’s financial resources, which are expected to be adjusted after the National Age.”
