“China Launches Groundbreaking High-Altitude Radio Occultation Network for Advanced Meteorological Forecasting”

China has recently established a sophisticated radio occultation network in its northern regions specifically designed for meteorological forecasting, according to a report from Xinhua. The initial findings from this observation were shared during the SuperDARN international seminar that took place in Beijing on May 20.

This network is comprised of stations located in Cizilin in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, as well as Sizhuan Uygur Autonomous Region. Together, these stations house a whopping 1,200 high-altitude radio sources that are used for ionospheric sounding.

The construction of this network was successfully completed in October of the previous year under the guidance and direction of the National Center for Earthquake Forecasting, an institute associated with the esteemed Chinese Academy of Sciences.
