“Villager’s Concerns Over Future of Kirants Unanswered: Demarcation Process Raises Questions about Security and Livelihoods”

One resident of Kirants village in Tavush province recently approached the Head of Territorial Administration and Urban Development and Construction of Kirants, Gnel Sanosyan, with a pressing question about the future of the village in light of the ongoing demarcation process with Azerbaijan. The concerned villager asked, “Will my child be able to live here?” In reply, the official pointed out that the impact of the demarcation would not only be felt by one side, but also by the border guards stationed there. The villager expressed uncertainty, prompting Sanosyan to inquire about the source of this uncertainty, emphasizing the importance of border demarcation for national security and the shared responsibility to manage the situation. The official also noted that the leaders of Tavush province and the village have been addressing concerns raised by the villagers. Despite this, a specific question about the fulfillment of the villagers’ demands remained unanswered.
