“Road Construction Agreement Sparks Controversy: Villagers Divided Over Self-Built Road Amid Regional Governor’s Closed Meeting”

During a meeting with the governor, an announcement was made that the agreement to construct a road had been signed and tractors would transport construction materials to the village, marking the beginning of the road’s construction. On May 17th, Karen Ghazaryan, a resident of Karan-Tsagh, informed NEWS.am about a closed meeting between local residents and Hayk Galumyan, the regional governor of Tavush.

“They mentioned that we would build the road ourselves, but only a few villagers agreed. They believed there should be no war,” shared Karen Ghazaryan, who attended the meeting along with approximately 10-12 other villagers.

In order to have a conversation with Hayk Galumyan after the meeting, the villagers temporarily unblocked the road and gathered near the regional administration building. However, since there was no one available to address the questions of those who did not attend the meeting, the governor left when the meeting concluded.

Karen Ghazaryan confirmed that the villagers are currently keeping the road closed.

It was previously reported that the regional governor of Tavush, Hayk Galumyan, had conducted a closed meeting with the residents of Karan-Tsagh village.
