Parents and Students Unite: Demanding Dismissal of School Director in Aragatsotn Region

On May 16th, a tense situation has arisen in the Aragatsotn region of Armenia. The Byurakanov Hovhannes Tumanyan middle school, along with its 500 students and their parents, have gathered in front of the school to demand the dismissal of the school’s director, Mr. Mkrtychyan. According to Shamshyan.com, the school has been led by Mr. Mkrtychyan for the past 7 years, during which time it has been plagued by issues and has failed to produce positive outcomes. The dissatisfied protestors are calling on the regional governor of Aragatsotn to promptly announce the decision to dismiss the director, believing it will bring an end to the village and school’s predicament. Additionally, the protesters note that while Mr. Mkrtychyan used his own funds to renovate part of the deteriorated roof, he has not yet received any acknowledgment from the regional administration. Meanwhile, classes at the school are still ongoing.
