Green Party Leader Demands Protection of Country, Questions Border Disputes: “Whose Duty is it?”

The Green Party leader called for the protection of our country and emphasized that it is our duty to do so. He highlighted that the Turkish have taken 200 kilometers of land from us, and if we don’t act now, they will continue to encroach upon our borders. The leader challenged those who claim that the disputed land belongs to the Turks to provide evidence and a basis for their assertion. Asserting the ownership of Jermuk as part of Armenia, he emphasized the importance of knowing our borders as citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

He pointed out that the border between the two republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan was determined during the Soviet Union era, not by the head of the state. He warned that if we abandon the old border, we would be relinquishing the territory. The leader stated that while it is understandable if someone doesn’t want war, it is unacceptable if they actively seek it. He analogized this to drinking coffee without breaking the cup, stating that it’s not guaranteed and should be viewed as a tragedy.

It’s worth noting that today, settlers closed the Armenian-Georgian border section of the interstate highway for several hours, demanding closure of the road until the results of demarcation are clarified. In the morning, villagers in Tavush sought answers from the governor regarding the origins of Azerbaijanis based on the maps.

In a government session, Nikol Pashinyan announced that border guards from Armenia and Azerbaijan will be stationed in the border area within 8-9 days. In the Karvachar region, border guards will be deployed earlier due to the need for detailed preparations. Pashinyan acknowledged the challenges in the Karvachar region, as both sides have different interpretations of the principle “the border is crossing where it is crossing.”
