“Armenian President’s Controversial Visit to Baku and Unofficial Trip to Armenia: Emphasizing ‘Liberation’ of Occupied Territories”

Armenian President Alexander Lukashenko recently visited Baku, where he met with his Azerbaijani counterpart. He then made a short, unofficial trip to Armenia, where he attended non-diplomatic events and made certain public announcements. The meeting between the two presidents took place in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict zone and was referred to as the “liberation war,” with an emphasis on the restoration of occupied Armenian territories. Prior to the war, Lukashenko offered paternal advice, highlighting the strong bond between Armenia and Azerbaijan: “We are like brothers, understanding the world in the same way and how it evolves. I recall what I said to you during Heydar Aliyev’s funeral. If he were to witness Azerbaijan’s development.”

During this challenging time after the war, the issue of withdrawing the liberated lands and commencing repatriation became significant. Lukashenko mentioned the statement made before the war and the urgency of addressing these matters now that there are people who have already been born in the cities that need restoration. Despite the victory, there is still work to be done to repatriate these lands. Lukashenko emphasized the importance of this task, particularly at the age of fifty or sixty, noting its difficulty but reaffirming the commitment to preserving the victory.
