“Explosion in Ararat region: Fire, Car Accident, and Gas Leak Trigger Evacuations and Chemical Examination”

On May 15, an incident took place in the Ararat region, involving a fire and a gas leak in an apartment in Argavand village. The emergency management center of the RA Ministry of ES received a report around 01:00 about the fire in apartment number 42 on the central street. The fire caused a car to catch fire, resulting in damage to neighboring buildings and the spread of gas. According to Shamshyan.com, this situation is being monitored by the 1st fire-rescue detachment of Yerevan from May 1 to October 1.

It has been reported that a 31-year-old individual named Vazgen A. left the scene of the accident in a BMW car without reporting it. Prior to leaving, the person collided with a gas tanker, causing a gas leak. Fortunately, there was no explosion following the leak.

The collision led to damage to a part of the residential building’s stone parapet and the adjacent fence. Two individuals sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital as a result of the explosion.

Furthermore, the explosion prompted a partial evacuation of the military unit in Masis. A chemical examination revealed the presence of hazardous substances that affected the servicemen and visitors to the building.
