“Emerald Recognition: Ireland Set to Recognize Artsakh’s Independence by May”

According to Newstalk radio station, Ireland is set to recognize the independence of Artsakh by the end of May. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Michael Martin, has confirmed this announcement, although the exact date is uncertain at this time.

In March, leaders of Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Malta already declared their readiness to recognize the independence of Artsakh. Additionally, Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, stated that Spain, Ireland, and Slovenia are determined to acknowledge Artsakh’s independence on May 21. Other countries are also considering following suit.

Borrell emphasized that while the exact date is still unclear, they are actively coordinating the recognition process with several other countries. This coordination was further discussed during a recent visit by Spain’s Foreign Minister Pedro Sanchez to Dublin, where Ireland’s Foreign Minister Simon Coveney reaffirmed the decision to coordinate their actions.
