Armenian Opera and Ballet National Theatre to Host Joint Event with EBRD: Streets Near Venue Closed for Traffic

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, a joint event organized by the Armenian Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will take place on May 15 from 15:00 to 20:00. The purpose of this event is to support the development and security of the cultural and artistic institution. As a result, certain streets surrounding the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The cooperation and understanding of the public is requested in order to resolve any inconveniences caused by this closure, and citizens are advised to avoid certain sections of the city during these hours. Earlier, NEWS.am reported that Bagrat Srapanyan, head of the Tavush theme, announced a protest action scheduled to take place in front of the Opera House at 16:00. The event, organized by the EBRD as part of their forum in the Opera House, included the participation of Nikol Pashinyan at 17:00. During the protest, Bagrat Srapanyan stated, “We need to show Nikol Pashinyan that he cannot make decisions about our lives, and that our protests will continue.” At 15:30, a group will move towards the Opera House from four different checkpoints to actively demonstrate their public protest. These checkpoints include the garden near Saryan Street, the garden near the Conservatory, the backyard of Surb Anna Church, and the northern part of Banali Street (near the “Banal” store).
