“Record-Breaking Victory: Armenian National Football Team Defeats Urartu in Historic Showdown”

According to the “Zhoghovurd” daily newspaper, on May 12, the Armenian national football team achieved a historic victory by defeating the “Urartu” Football Club for the first time in the history of Armenian football. The intense match took place at the Yerevan Republican Stadium and ended with an 11-meter penalty shootout.

During the game, tensions were high as the President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), Armen Melikbekyan, and the team’s coach Vardan Minasyan, refused to shake hands with FFA President Aram Nikoghosyan during the cup presentation. However, it is important to note that the FFA management has not officially announced that the “Ararat-Armenia” team, which participates in the Championship League, will no longer use the FFA technical center for training. This decision is a response to the strained relationship between the team and the FFA, and there are predictions that the “Ararat-Armenia” team may withdraw from the FFA as a result.

The “Ararat-Armenia” team is owned by Samvel Karapetyan, the head of the Tashir Group, and the team’s head coach is Vardan Minasyan, the former head coach of the Armenian national team who previously had a conflict with FFA President Armen Melikbekyan after the latest elections. Sources within the FFA have highlighted that Minasyan and his assistant, Armen Nikoghosyan, have been critical of the FFA, raising financial and administrative questions and making inappropriate statements. This situation indicates that the football world in Armenia is likely to experience significant changes and instability.
