The Russian Investigative Committee has announced that General Lieutenant Yuri Kuznetsov, the head of the Main Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia, has been questioned in connection with a criminal case involving bribery on a large scale. The specific actions that the questioning is related to have not been specified in the committee’s press release.

During searches of the premises of the financial and registration areas of the department, significant amounts of money in rubles and foreign currency, totaling more than 100 million rubles (about 1 million US dollars), as well as gold coins, luxury watches, and valuable items were found, according to the Russian Investigative Committee.

The court has decided to send General Kuznetsov to a detention center, where he will be held while the investigation is ongoing. Prior to this, the authorities had informed the media about the arrest of the suspects involved in the case.
