The President of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Ian Borg, visited Armenia and was briefed on the organization’s activities in the region, according to a statement released by the EAEU. During his visit, Borg discussed the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the leaders of Armenia. He expressed the EAEU’s readiness to actively participate and lend support to efforts aimed at resolving human rights issues and improving living conditions through their knowledge and experience in innovation and scientific technologies. Borg also commended the progress made in the peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and encouraged the continuation of the process.

In the statement, the EAEU reaffirmed Borg’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between the organization and Armenia, with an emphasis on expanding partnership in non-traditional areas such as security sector reforms and climate change. The EAEU highlighted its positive contribution to Armenia’s security, stating that it assists in fulfilling security obligations across all three sectors.
