“Constitutional Clash: CC’s Short Answer Awaited as Nayiri Hovsepyan’s Appeals Continue”

The authorities of Nayiri Hovsepyan, who had appealed to the CC (Constitutional Court), will receive a short answer from the CC before it passes the issue of constitutional compliance to him. According to a report from “Pastinfo”, the General Prosecutor’s Office has informed that Nayiri Hovsepyan, a former member of the CC who now serves as the Prime Minister’s legal representative, has requested clarifications from the RA Ministry of Justice regarding the appointment of the RA Constitutional Court President, which is valid until April 22. On February 10, it was revealed during a discussion with the judge that the constitutional complaint against Nayiri Hovsepyan’s removal from the CC was submitted on May 2, following a personal appeal.

In addition, the constitutional representative received the judge’s decision regarding continued questioning in February, with the deadline extended until April 10, 2024. Furthermore, a decision made on May 13 states that the debate on the representative’s arguments will take place on May 27 at 10:00. It is worth mentioning that media reports suggest that Nayiri Hovsepyan has had disagreements with Karineh Andreasyan, a former member of the CC, relating to the activities of the RA Constitutional Court. These controversies stem from Nayiri Hovsepyan’s complaints against the judge’s actions, with concerns raised in the legal community that decisions made under the judge’s actions, in some cases without reasons, have been annulled under Nayiri Hovsepyan’s jurisdiction. Similar reasons have been cited in Nayiri Hovsepyan’s complaint against the judge.

It should be noted that these allegations have caused a conflict between the constitutional representative, members of the CC, and Nayiri Hovsepyan. As a result, Nayiri Hovsepyan was only released from the CC position at BDCH (Board of Constitutional and Legal Affairs). It is worth mentioning that the constitutional representative’s dismissal, based on these allegations, was also challenged by Karineh Andreasyan, the judge, members of the CC, and Nayiri Hovsepyan himself. Additionally, media reports suggest that Nayiri Hovsepyan has personal disagreements with Anna Hakobyan, the sister of Nikole Pashinyan, and has occasionally been noticed taking provocative steps in recent times, despite the judge’s obligation to maintain political neutrality. It is believed that these personal disagreements may explain his hostile attitude.
