According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, it is now the appropriate time to implement the agreements that have been reached with Azerbaijan in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and officially sign it. Pashinyan expressed this view during his presentation at the “Copenhagen Committee of Good Governance” and his participation in the discussion titled “From the Frontline: Armenia’s Defense of Democracy.” He stressed that despite the ongoing protests, Armenia firmly believes that peaceful negotiations are the true and most effective solution to the governance issue, as it embodies the essence of democracy. Pashinyan also highlighted the successful signing and implementation of the agreement with Azerbaijan, marking an important step in restoring the administrative boundaries between the Republic of Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. This delimitation process, as outlined in the 1991 Declaration of Independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, will commence on October 6, 2022, with the participation of prominent leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Pashinyan stressed the significance of including and expanding these agreements in the ceasefire agreement to ensure its effectiveness. Furthermore, he noted that President Aliyev has assumed a crucial role in regulating and opening certain aspects of regional life through the “Chess King of Democracy” project, which was initiated by the Armenian government. The outcome of these discussions is disclosed in a public declaration by President Michel, who holds the position of Chairman of the European Council. Pashinyan concluded by expressing Armenia’s commitment to moving forward step by step in accordance with the agreed-upon terms and advocating for peace. He affirmed that governance is defense for Armenia, as the country firmly believes in the power and importance of effective governance in shaping its future.
