Armenian Minister of Economy and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Resources Discuss Roadmap for Prosperity and Energy Security

A meeting was held on May 13 in Washington, D.C. between Gevorg Papoyan, the Minister of Economy of Armenia, and Jeffrey Paquette, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Resources. The meeting was attended by Lilit Makunts, the Armenian Ambassador to the U.S., and Narek Hovakimyan, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy.

During the meeting, a variety of topics were discussed, including the progress of the “Roadmap for Prosperity” project, which is funded by the Republic of Armenia, and the current developments in the fields of environmental and energy security in the region. The meeting also focused on Armenia’s advancements in energy efficiency and the collaboration between Armenia and the U.S. in “Market Economy Regulation” as part of the ongoing efforts led by the Armenian government.

On the same day, another meeting took place between Brian Tracy, the Commercial Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, and Tigran Brayyan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Armenia.

During this meeting, the significance of the Armenian-American bilateral cooperation in environmental developments was emphasized. This included the implementation of programs by the U.S. Department of Energy in Armenia, the sustainability of diversification programs, and the need to carry out agreements made in the previous meeting of the trade and investment working group between Armenia and the U.S. The importance of continuous cooperation in ensuring the smooth progress of the undertaken work was also highlighted.
