“University Professor Announces Controversial Move: Classes Cancelled for Absent Students, Stirring Up Tensions”

Elina Asryan, a university professor at Yerevan State University, recently attended a meeting with the Ministry of Education. During this meeting, she announced that she would be canceling all classes for students who have been absent. Father Bagrat Srbazan, speaking at the Surb Anna Church, emphasized that all students should go to Yerevan State University starting from the next morning at 10:00. However, it is unclear how accurate this news is.

“Elina Asryan has stated that all students with absences should take note and suspend their classes indefinitely,” Father Bagrat Srbazan said. He added, “I will remove 1000 students from the university.” He also warned Elina Asryan and rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan not to exceed their boundaries. Father Bagrat Srbazan emphasized that if they don’t have the courage to speak the truth, the university students will. He also referenced David Gharjyan and rumors of lecturers being scolded, stating, “You cannot escape.”

It has been reported that the entrance has not been locked so far, but Father Bagrat Srbazan came out of the church to prevent protests from occurring. Today, residents in the capital and several regions have locked roads in protest. During these peaceful protests, 156 people were detained, with some facing brutal force. However, the detained individuals were later released. Additionally, under the leadership of Father Bagrat Srbazan, the Holy See of Etchmiadzin launched a letter-writing campaign, involving organizations such as the Writers’ Union, the Institute of Armenian Studies, and the Republic of Armenia.

Due to the closed doors, Father Bagrat Srbazan was unable to enter the Writers’ Union and the Institute of Armenian Studies. However, he remained in the Institute of Armenian Studies. It is worth noting that Father Bagrat Srbazan attempted to enter the National Assembly but was denied entry due to not having an ID card with him.
