“Media Suppression Uncovered: Journalists’ Activities Obstructed during Yerevan Protests”

News has emerged regarding the monitoring of media and social networks, revealing that the activities of journalists and media personnel were hindered during the protests in Yerevan on May 13. Representatives from various media outlets, both print and online, had their work obstructed as they reported on the ongoing demonstrations against the authorities. According to NEWS.am, it has been revealed that Anna Manasyan from the Human Rights Defender’s Office and Meri Manukyan, a journalist and editor at 24News.am, have established a connection to gather information on the incidents that occurred during the protests. The interrogation of these journalists and media experts will require clear explanations, as journalists are expected to adhere to internationally recognized professional standards in their reporting.

Additionally, today in the Tema area of Tavush, under the leadership of Pastor Bagrat Serbaz, streets are being closed. Around 20 streets in the capital will be closed as of 08:00. At the end of the day, law enforcement agencies have detained 151 individuals. The publication of media releases has raised concerns about the use of force by law enforcement against a significant number of protesters, with tear gas being deployed in some cases. These actions have resulted in the injury of one operator, and a journalist from 24news.am has faced harassment as well. It is important to note that NEWS.am is available on Telegram, providing the latest news from Armenia.
