“Detained Participants of Civil Disobedience Action Set Free as Streets of Yerevan Remain Closed”

Participants of the civil disobedience action, who were previously detained by law enforcement agencies, are now being released. Varazdat Harutyunyan, a member of the “Five Guardians of the Law” initiative, confirmed that all those who were detained have been let go. Streets in Yerevan have been closed since this morning, following a call from the leader of the Srbazan party, Bagrat Srbazan, in the city of Tavush. As of 08:00, around 20 streets in the capital have been blocked, and 134 people have been detained by law enforcement.

Multiple videos published by the media show law enforcement officers using force to detain citizens and even throwing some of them into the river. In one incident, an operator from 24news.am had their camera damaged, and a journalist from the same outlet was attacked. Earlier, Srbazan had called for a peaceful gathering at 8 o’clock in the morning to block roads, workplaces, and paralyze the entire city and Republic of Armenia, in protest against injustice and evil.
