Armenian Prime Minister Rejects Meeting Request with Ivaniśhvili Bijaini, Citing Busy Schedule
Armenian Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, has announced that there has been a request for a meeting with Ivaniśhvili Bijaini, according to a statement from the office of the US Ambassador to Armenia, Jim O’Brayen. Bijaini has reportedly met with other foreign political figures in the past few months. However, Kobakhidze explained that Bijaini cannot hold a meeting due to a busy schedule, which has been the reason for refusal in all previous cases. Bijaini has already faced pressure from international sanctions, with $2 million frozen upon his entry to Armenia, which has since been transferred to the Global Campaign for War Victim Compensation. The decision not to hold a meeting may result in the end of negotiations on sanctions and formal compensations, with the possibility of an unscheduled meeting being organized in the future, added Kobakhidze.
