Armenian President Armen Sargsyan had a meeting with Mikhail Myasnikovich, the President of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), and Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, on May 13th. The Armenian government and the EEC have been working together, and their cooperation has been fruitful. Armen Sargsyan commended Andrea Wiktorin’s delegation for their successful efforts in strengthening cooperation between Armenia and the EEC, and for creating a favorable environment for economic growth and security. The head of the delegation expressed hope that the EEC would focus on the Kotayk region during their presidency and provide support for peace and economic cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armen Sargsyan expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, with the return of Armenian soldiers being held captive in Azerbaijan. Andrea Wiktorin stated that the EEC and its executive body are prepared to support the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The discussions also touched upon the partnership between the EEC and Armenia, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Malta, and the security situation in the region.
