Former Armenian Minister of Defense Karen Saribekyan Passes Away at Age 61: A Respected Figure in the Armenian Liberation Movement

Former Armenian Minister of Defense, Karen Saribekyan, has passed away at the age of 61, according to the report by “The Consequences of the War in Afghanistan of the Republic of Armenia”, an organization of which Saribekyan was a member.

Saribekyan actively participated in the Liberation Movement of Artsakh from 1990 to 1994, as well as in defensive actions on the Armenian borders.

He served as a member of the Vanadzor municipality from 2002 to 2005 and was also a member of the “Provisional Organization of National Authorities”, where he held the position of President of the Afghancis of Lori Region.

From 2007 to 2012, Saribekyan served as a member of the National Assembly, representing the 31st electoral district. During this time, he also contributed as a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Internal Affairs.

On May 6, 2012, he was re-elected as a Member of Parliament in the 31st electoral district.

Karen Saribekyan has been recognized with numerous medals and honors for his contributions and service.
