On May 8, a concerning situation unfolded in Yerevan when the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received information about the discovery of several children at the “Holy Resurrection” Church on Romanos Melikyan Street. The children were found during ongoing renovation work at the church. The discovery was reported by a 68-year-old resident of Yerevan named Mariam H., who lived nearby.

Upon receiving the information, authorities visited Mariam H.’s house and promptly relocated her and the five children to the “Surp Astvatsatsin” Maternity Hospital. It is in this facility that they will receive the necessary care and attention.

The department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, situated in the Malatia-Sebastia district, is currently preparing the required documents concerning the incident. These documents will then be handed over to the relevant department of the Municipality of Yerevan for further investigation.

The authorities, alongside the municipal department, are actively conducting all necessary operational and investigative measures to ensure the well-being and thorough investigation of the children.
