“Edward Sharmazanov Calls for Active Participation in Movement to Free Armenian POWs and Protect Statehood Monuments: A Struggle for Truth and Freedom”

We welcome all the movements where there is active participation to free the Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijani captivity and attempts to protect the monuments of the Armenian statehood. Today, Edward Sharmazanov, a member of the National Assembly who is currently in Erebuni, told reporters.

“Yesterday, our young people were in Avan. I am sure that we will have a larger group participating in the march,” he said. When asked whether the movement could succeed in achieving political demands that are not announced as part of the march, Sharmazanov said, “We love any patriotic movement. It is not a riot, it is a movement that takes each step on time.

When Catholicos Garegin II comes to Yerevan and fulfills his movement goals, we will have our political assessments. Our political assessments are correct – this is a struggle for truth, this is the struggle of Armenians against the invaders. The diplomatic conclusion of this struggle should be the removal of these invaders and the Armenian people.”

Armenian News Agency contacted Sharmazanov by phone and asked whether he considered the movement successful with his observation. Sharmazanov said, “A thinker who does not have a backbone does not consider it successful. The backbone must belong to all. Whether it is in the brain or not, taking into account their dubious opinions about Srapazan’s criticism, I think so.”

Sharmazanov congratulated the former presidents of Artsakh, who reside in the Republic of Armenia, as well as Malian, Samuelian, Saghatelyan, and Aslanyan. “They are all responsible for what they did for Artsakh. They want us to restore our memory. They want us to restore our monuments.”
