“AntiFake.am Exonerates Narek Samsonyan and Vazgen Saghatelyan: International Support Grows as Editors Demand Free Expression”

During the period from May 2 to 7, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia decided to dismiss the complaints against Narek Samsonyan and Vazgen Saghatelyan, the authors and presenters of the “I am INformed” talk show on the AntiFake.am website. This decision was communicated to the press by various representatives, including Vilis Maragsin from the European Union delegation in Armenia, Maxime Longangue from the European Parliament’s office in Yerevan, and John Gallagher from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Embassy, among others. On May 7, activists from AntiFake.am organized a protest in front of the US Embassy in Armenia to show support for Samsonyan and Saghatelyan. The editors of AntiFake.am want to remind the prosecutors and international organizations that these two individuals have been in detention for 42 days after the 83rd release of their program, which allegedly incited mass unrest in connection with the events in the village of Tavush. The editorial board also emphasizes that their evaluation of European institutions and their political standpoint will be based on the freedom of expression for the political opposition and the actions of the political leadership within the disputed “liberation struggle”.
