“Successful Cooperation Leads to Major Breakthrough in Smuggling Fight: Seizure of Hashish and Arrest of Suspects”

The fight against smuggling, especially tobacco products, is yielding positive results through the cooperation of law enforcement. On April 23, the National Security Service of Armenia received operational information from the regional administration of Ararat. Working jointly with the police and customs authorities, they discovered that a 48-year-old driver and a 49-year-old passenger from Dalaryk-Masnikyan village were transporting a hidden package weighing about 332 grams, resembling hashish, in their self-made “Mercedes” vehicle. The package was a homemade device made of paper for personal use. Further investigations are underway to identify the individuals involved.

Additionally, it was revealed that a resident of Yerevan had purchased the 332-gram package from a local company, paying one million drams, or two thousand drams per gram. The detained individuals, aged 48, 49, and 56, were transferred to the regional investigative administration of Ararat for interrogation and further detention. The attempted crimes have been registered, and the necessary pre-trial proceedings are being conducted.
