“International Organizations and Cabinet Members Gather in Yerevan for Judicial Briefing on Demonstrations and Urban Unrest”

The demonstrations of these formations are crucial as they provide us with the opportunity to witness them firsthand and gain media coverage. Today, on May 7, members of the Cabinet, “Freedom House,” and other international organizations were invited by Yerevan’s mayor, Nikol Pashinyan, to attend a judicial briefing on these matters.

Pashinyan highlighted the importance of keeping the gates open and emphasized that a system lacking the strength to apply its power cannot be effective. He referred to a similar incident in the US where students protested and were subsequently allowed to continue, questioning the wisdom of using force. Pashinyan expressed the belief that people should be able to express their discontent, citing these standards derived from the US. While no country is exempt from such problems, Armenia hopes to become a democratic nation and improve its government.

Regarding the urban unrest situation, Pashinyan stated that it should be objectively evaluated. However, he noted that no country is immune to such occurrences.
