“Armenian Cassation Court President Calls for Focus on Criminal Cases in Press: ‘We Can’t Ignore Serious Crimes’”

The journalist at the press conference asked me if a certain question could be deleted from the article. I clarified directly with the journalist that it could not be deleted. On May 6th, during the National Assembly session, Anna Vardapetyan, the President of the Cassation Court of the Republic of Armenia, made an announcement. She stated that they are not asking for everything to be published, but rather they need the opportunity to only discuss criminal cases in the press. If the presiding judge does not ask about criminal matters, they would need to contact the judge and inquire about it. Vardapetyan gave an example of a murder case that occurred a year ago in Kasakh, where a young man named Alen Simonyan was killed. Simonyan’s attackers had cut off his hands, and he retaliated by hitting one of the attackers in the face.
