“National Crisis Management Center Responds to Flooding Emergency in Yerevan’s Nor Aresh District: Rescue Operation Underway”

On May 4th at 00:00, the National Crisis Management Center received a distress call regarding a flooding situation in Yerevan’s Nor Aresh district. The basement of a building on 50th street had been flooded due to a rise in the water level of a nearby river, which also affected surrounding houses. The RA MoD’s Rescue Unit from the National Defense Service was immediately dispatched to the scene in accordance with the National Crisis Management Center’s protocol.

Reports confirmed that the flooding in the basement of a building near Nor Aresh’s 50th street was caused by the increase in the water level of the Voghjaberd river. As a result, nearby houses and streets were also affected. The rescue team, assisted by specialized technology such as an excavator provided by the municipality, is working diligently to clean and drain the area.

Present at the scene are Lieutenant-General Karen Baghdasaryan, the Director of the Rescue Service of the RA MoD, along with Colonel Kamо Tsutsulyan and Major Davit Sargsyan as Deputy Directors of the Rescue Service. Other representatives from the Rescue Service and officials from the Yerevan Municipality are also in attendance.
