“United Nations and Saudi Arabia on Verge of Historic Agreement with Israel: Security Guarantees and Normalization at Stake”

The United Nations and Saudi Arabia are on the verge of a historic agreement that could potentially lead to improved relations with Israel, provided that Israel puts an end to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. As reported by Bloomberg, the document’s title was changed on October 7 in response to the recent escalation of tensions in the region. Demonstrations have taken place in recent weeks, with numerous high-ranking officials expressing hope that a resolution will be reached in the near future. The Mediterranean Agreement is also undergoing some modifications in relation to this matter. In addition to Israel and Saudi Arabia, the agreement could involve the United States, taking into consideration Iran and even China. If both the United States and Saudi Arabia agree to the terms, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may be assigned to lead the negotiations, or potentially participate in an agreement that entails certain commitments, or alternatively, choose not to be involved at all. Netanyahu’s involvement in the agreement would entail a commitment to cease hostilities in the Gaza Strip and to recognize the establishment of a Palestinian state. However, it should be noted that Bloomberg’s sources have not ruled out the possibility that an agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia may not materialize.
