“A Twist in the Selection of Constitutional Court Judge: Davit Khachatryan Withdraws or Health Issues at Play?”

The newspaper “Hraparak” reported that during yesterday’s session of the Armenian National Assembly (Parliament), the selection of a judge for the Constitutional Court was discussed. The “BDKH” faction presented Davit Khachatryan, chief of the State Control Service, as their candidate. However, during the session, the court’s speaker, Ruben Rubinyan, announced that the question had been removed from the agenda. He explained that Khachatryan, unable to participate in the discussions due to a request for transfer, had prompted the removal of the question from the agenda. The reason for Khachatryan’s decision to withdraw remains unclear, as does his current position at the CCO. The matter will be further discussed in tomorrow’s newspaper.
