Hero of Artsakh Karen Jalavyan Summoned for Questioning in the Helsinki Court of Appeals as Part of Criminal Case Against Former PM Mikayel Harutyunyan

The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” has reported that Karen Jalavyan, the commander of the “Eghnikner” volunteer detachment of Artsakh and a hero of Artsakh, has been officially notified by the Judicial Assembly that he will be questioned in the Helsinki Court of Appeal regarding the criminal case against former Prime Minister Mikayel Harutyunyan’s alleged involvement in the Karabakh war. This matter is also being investigated through closed court hearings.

To recall, on September 1, 2022, a lawsuit was announced against Mikayel Harutyunyan, the former Prime Minister of Artsakh and head of the Presidential Staff, for his alleged participation in a crime committed during the 2020 Artsakh War. The lawsuit specifically mentions the involvement of the “Areg” battalion, which played a significant role in the military operations and the liberation of territories.

Harutyunyan was summoned on September 1 and is currently in custody.
