“Coordinator Exposes Shocking Details in Journalist’s Arrest: Was Editor Involved?”

The coordinator of the City Membership Agreement, Arthur Hovhannisyan, held a meeting with journalists at the National Assembly today. The purpose of the meeting was to address the spreading news about the journalist from “Civic.am” who had been taken into custody. A spokesperson from the National Assembly confirmed the issue and provided detailed information.

According to the spokesperson, when the journalist was asked for an interview, he refused and claimed that he was following the orders of their superior, Levon Kocharyan, the chief editor. This suggests that the journalist was involved in editorial activities and was approached by Leon Kocharyan, who is known as their benefactor. However, as a representative of the assisting body, Hovhannisyan stated that his role was to comment on the journalist’s work and address any sexist remarks made towards the journalist.

Hovhannisyan emphasized that the reason behind the journalist’s custody was related to their editorial work. As a signatory of the article discussing editorial activities, he urged the family of the Kocharyans not to tarnish the reputation of the National Assembly and highlighted the importance of maintaining a high level of professionalism and legality. He also warned against engaging in other forms of political demonstrations if the campaign continued, stating that a proper evaluation of the scandal was necessary based on personal assessment.

In his statement, Hovhannisyan emphasized the journalist’s right to exercise free speech in Armenia, where freedom of speech is protected. He stressed that the country is governed democratically and is not reminiscent of the era of Robert Kocharyan’s rule. He urged against making mistakes and warned that any attempt to suppress human freedom through pressure would be met with a stronger response.
