Ucom Empowers Rural Communities with Free Wi-Fi and Renewable Energy

Ucom, a telecommunications company, has recently provided free Wi-Fi access to four communities in Ijevan. In an effort to make internet services more accessible, Ucom has installed “smart” devices with Wi-Fi capabilities in the villages of Berkaber, Sarigyugh, Aygevabit, and Vazashen. These devices are powered by renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, ensuring sustainable connectivity for the residents.

In addition to the smart devices, Ucom has also set up a satellite internet connection to offer Wi-Fi access to individuals waiting for transportation in these communities. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for residents, providing them with convenient and reliable internet services.

Ralf Yirikyan, the CEO of Ucom, expressed the company’s commitment to improving services in the region. He acknowledged that the previous fixed connection in Ijevan did not meet the needs of the surrounding communities. By expanding the Wi-Fi coverage and ensuring free access, Ucom hopes to make a positive impact on the daily lives of residents.

Artur Chagharyan, the head of the Ijevan community, highlighted the importance of free internet services in these rural areas. He explained that the community approached Ucom with the request for connectivity, and thanks to the positive response from the company’s CEO, residents can now benefit from this valuable service.

It’s worth mentioning that Ucom has also installed fixed networks in other cities throughout the year. Goris, Gavar, and Sevan are among the areas that have received improved internet connectivity as part of Ucom’s network expansion program.
