New Olympic Sports School Honoring Armenian Gymnast Albert Azaryan to Be Built in Yerevan

Albert Azaryan Olympic Sports School, named after the renowned Armenian gymnast Albert Azaryan, is set to be constructed in the Tsitsernakaberd neighborhood. The project was presented to Tigran Avinyan, the Mayor of Yerevan, today, April 29, by the executive body of the Yerevan Municipality. The school, spanning 1.5 hectares, will feature state-of-the-art facilities for various sports and artistic gymnastics, along with a dormitory capable of accommodating 532 individuals.

“Furthermore, we will also provide high-quality equipment for gymnastic competitions in the region. The school’s design has already been finalized, and construction of the complex will commence once the technical work is completed. Our plan is to commence construction works in the second quarter of 2024 and foresee completion by 2026,” shared Pambukhchyan.

After examining the project, Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized that construction companies typically require a minimum of 2 years to complete such significant projects. He stated, “To begin with, we must inform prominent construction companies of this venture. It holds great importance for Yerevan, and we intend to create a fresh architectural concept for the building. With a construction deadline of 2 years, we will participate in the bidding process accordingly.”
