Armenian Prime Minister and Saudi Arabian Health Minister Discuss Healthcare Cooperation

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, recently met with the head of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the potential for expanding cooperation in the healthcare sector and addressing mutual social issues of interest. Additionally, both parties reviewed the progress achieved through their collaborative efforts in the field of healthcare. Pashinyan presented the development and implementation process of a new evaluation system for the functionality of Armenia’s healthcare system, which is based on the principles and approaches outlined by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) of the World Health Organization. This innovative system allows for a clearer assessment of population needs, while also considering the social context and providing specific social services tailored to individual requirements.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressing his gratitude for the existing cooperation between Armenia and Saudi Arabia in the healthcare and social sectors, commended the initiation of the evaluation system for Armenia’s healthcare system. The meeting also involved discussions on further opportunities for collaboration in the healthcare field, as well as the progression of the evaluation system in Armenia.
