German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has confirmed progress in the negotiations for a ceasefire agreement between Baku and Yerevan. After meeting with Azerbaijan’s President, Ilham Aliyev, Scholz expressed during a joint press conference that they discussed organizing negotiations to settle differences between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Scholz commended the leaders of both countries for engaging in dialogue and expressed uncertainty about whether both sides would approach the negotiations with a necessary constructive attitude. The Chancellor also mentioned receiving news about the ongoing process of delimiting the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, viewing this as a positive development and expressing belief in signing an agreement on ceasefire conditions this year.
