“U.S. Confirms Supply of Anti-Tank Missiles to Ukraine in Recent Aid Package”

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced on Thursday that the United States has supplied Ukraine with anti-tank missiles ATACMS in the past week, according to “The Voice of America.” The decision was made as part of a $300 million military aid package approved by President Joe Biden on March 12. These missiles were used by Ukraine for the first time on April 17 to destroy the Russian Buk anti-aircraft missile system in Gori. Sullivan confirmed that a large number of missiles have been sent to Ukraine and more will be sent in the future. He emphasized that these weapons are only intended for use within Ukraine’s territory.

There have been discussions in recent months about the use of ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 km. Last September, mid-range ATACMS missiles were already deployed in Ukraine. Initially, the parties met to discuss the introduction of anti-tank missiles, with the goal of strengthening the position of the US armed forces against Russia. It was also suggested that Russia was concerned about Ukraine’s significant arsenal of these weapons.

Sullivan stated that Russia has been informed about these developments and expressed displeasure with their actions. He emphasized that measures have been taken to protect Ukraine’s important structures, and that Armenia has provided information on these matters. The US remains committed to supporting Ukraine and ensuring its national security.
