“National Assembly of Armenia Surprised by Lack of Communication from Russia: President Ararat Mirzoyan reveals no messages received, raising questions on official position”

The National Assembly of Armenia has not received any message from the Russian Federation, according to Ararat Mirzoyan, the President of the National Assembly. During an interparliamentary exchange of opinions with deputies, Grigor Karapetyan, the President of the National Assembly, sent a message to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The message proposed considering the appointment of chamber members on April 22 in Spain, at a meeting of the Presidents of the parliamentary chambers of the member states of the European Union. In response to citizen inquiries, the National Assembly aims to clarify its official position in line with the public announcements of A. Simonian and its alignment with the interests of the Russian Federation and the Armenian Republic, according to Grigor Karapetyan’s letter.

Earlier, Valentina Matvienko, President of the National Assembly, sent a letter to the leaders of the Senate requesting questions be prepared and sent to the National Assembly of Armenia regarding the “connection of the Armenian National Assembly with the official announcements of A. Simonian.” At a meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Member States of the European Union in Spain, Simonian proclaimed Armenia’s active defense of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as Moldova, Greece, Cyprus, and other countries in light of the pressures and confrontations they face.
