Armenian President Katerina Sakelaropoulou has announced the commemoration of the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. During the final years of the Ottoman Empire, over 1.5 million Armenians fell victim to a meticulously planned extermination. It has been 109 years since this genocide occurred, leaving a profound and tragic mark on the Armenian people. The Christian population in the eastern region of Kogkas was specifically targeted and massacred.

The recognition of these genocidal acts holds immense importance. By acknowledging such crimes, we can strive to prevent their repetition and promote peaceful coexistence among nations and peoples. Furthermore, justice and accountability for human rights violations are essential. It is crucial that we never forget the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
