Residents of Yerevan-Sevan District Announce Closed City: Discontent with Prime Minister Pashinyan’s Policies Spark Protests

On April 23, a resident from the Yerevan-Sevan district announced that it was closed to the public. The resident expressed their discontent with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, stating that they did not recognize him as the leader of Armenia. They suggested that if living with the Turks is favorable, those who believe so should move near Aliyev and live there. Another person emphasized the importance of fighting for their land as Armenians and citizens of their homeland.

Shortly after the city was closed, the road was reopened. Participants of the protest urged people to join them and drive to Yerevan to continue their demonstrations. The demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan was also a topic of discussion, with talks held in Tavush on April 19. The results indicated that Azerbaijan would gain 2.5 villages while Armenia would see a reduction in demarcation-associated risks.

The demarcation process will involve changes to the road section where the protest was held, ensuring easier access for the village of Voskepar. Additionally, the armed forces in the four villages will be reassessed and border guards will be assigned accordingly. The residents of Tavush border villages have been participating in protests since April 19, aligning themselves with the demarcation agreement made between Yerevan and Baku.
