“National Assembly Representative Takes a Bold Stand: ‘I Will Cut Off My Hands, but I Will Not Give Anything Away from Tavush'”

The head of the external relations department of the National Assembly of Armenia and representative of the “Civil Contract” party, Sargis Khndanyan, stated during a meeting with journalists on April 23 that he would not give anything away from Tavush, even if it meant cutting off his hands. It should be noted that Khndanyan’s statement does not compromise his diplomatic approach. The authorities claim that the four transferred villages do not belong to Armenia. Khndanyan emphasized that the recent events, starting on April 19, were a result of an agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to address border disputes.

Khndanyan mentioned that there was initially an issue with the publication of the Almaz-Antey advertisement, but they were able to use it as a political basis and have both Armenia and Azerbaijan sign the Almaz-Antey declaration, which is an important step in continuing the diplomatic process. He also expressed the urgency in resolving the territories of Armenia that are under the occupation of Azerbaijan. According to Khndanyan, once the process is completed and an agreement is signed, it will be presented to the parliaments of both countries. Armenia will then move forward, using Artsakh as the legal basis of Armenia.

In conclusion, Khndanyan’s statement reflects the determination of the people of Tavush to protect their land, while also highlighting the importance of diplomatic efforts in resolving the ongoing border disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The situation remains critical, and the hope is that a swift resolution can be reached for the territories occupied by Azerbaijan.
