“Commander Urges Armenian Military and Security Forces to Stand Firm: Either Death or Freedom”

In an interview with reporters at the funeral of fallen heroes in the Kirov village of Tavush province, Raphael Kocharyan, the commander of the search and rescue team, dismissed the notion that Turks are stagnant and unwilling to progress. He compared the situation in Agavno village to the ongoing protests in Tavush, emphasizing that the Armenian nation learns from its past mistakes. Kocharyan called on military comrades and all defenders of national security in Armenia to refuse any illegal orders and instead prioritize the interests of the people. He declared their determination to stay until the end, echoing the sentiment of “death or freedom.”

For six consecutive days starting from April 19, residents of border villages in Tavush province have been engaging in protest actions on the Armenia-Georgia interstate. They are demanding the same demarcation version that had been previously agreed upon by Yerevan and Baku. On April 22, news emerged that a joint work group on demarcation would be formed within the Armenian-Azerbaijani demarcation commission. The group would include local representatives from various communities in the Tavush region, ensuring that only residents directly affected by the demarcation process are present.
