Former International Criminal Court Judge Delivers Powerful Lecture on Armenian Genocide at Mother Cathedral

Former head judge of the International Criminal Court, Louise Moreno Okampon, recently delivered a lecture at the Mother Cathedral of Antilias. According to Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia, the lecture was presented in the presence of Catholicos Aram I, the president of the NCIOOC. The theme of the lecture was “The consequences of the Genocide 75 years later: Why does the world still refuse to recognize the genocide?” Ritta Melekean, a member of the Union of Armenian Students of the Holy Church, welcomed the participants and presented the agenda. The recognition of the genocide and the importance of responsibility from both the perpetrators and the international community were emphasized by Archbishop Kılıko, Peyrouthios Amerikean, and Nora Payragtaryan. Dr. Peyragtaryan also discussed the publication of the Genocide Indictment and invited further discussion on the issue. Okampon concluded the event by highlighting the need for the Armenian people to take responsibility, prevent future crimes, and work together internationally. Catholicos Aram I praised the speech and emphasized the importance of national unity and new approaches in international management.
