Deputy Foreign Minister Mher Grigoryan to Discuss Escalating Border Situation with Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan

On Tuesday, we will have a discussion with Deputy Foreign Minister Mher Grigoryan regarding this issue. In an interview with NEWS.am, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan stated, “We will meet with Mher Grigoryan on Tuesday at 6 o’clock to discuss this matter. Once we have concluded our discussion, we will have a clear understanding of what steps to take and commence our work. Our focus will be on understanding the extent of this issue. Not only will we be present, but the community head of Berkaber and other community heads will also join us. Our objective is to clarify and protect the boundaries unconditionally. While they may be on the other side, we will stand firm on our side.” It is crucial to note that the situation in Tavush has intensified, resulting in the closure of several border crossings between Baghanis and Kirantsi. Residents from Baghank, Voskepar, Kirants, Barekamavan, Koti, Dilijan, Ijevan, and other settlements of Tavush have gathered in response. It is worth mentioning that a meeting was held between the delegations of Armenia and Azerbaijan yesterday on the border, specifically addressing the delimitation of the state border. According to our sources, an agreement has been reached today regarding the date and location of the next meeting. The government has also announced that today’s meeting has yielded a preliminary agreement on the segment of the border between Baghanis-Baghanis and Voskepar-Ashaghy Askipar, Kirants-Kheyrumli, and Barekam-Berk Himalyan, as outlined by the International Mediation Group.
