“Armenian National Assembly Official Responds to Former Prime Minister’s Concerns Over Russia’s Policy”

The President of the Committee on Defense and National Security of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Konstantin Zatulin, has responded to a letter from former Prime Minister Vazgen Manukyan on Telegram. In the letter, Zatulin indirectly references Manukyan’s statements, asserting that since 2020, Russia’s policy has not aligned with the aspirations of the Armenian opposition, and the withdrawal of Russian forces from Nagorno-Karabakh is seen as a significant development.

Zatulin explains that the departure of Armenians and then Russians from Nagorno-Karabakh, starting in 2020 and specifically from 2022-2023, was predetermined. He emphasizes that this is a matter of truth and does not want to condense the reasons and motives into a short letter. Instead, he aims to protect the remaining aspirations of the people and prevent them from becoming victims of power and government abuses.

While Zatulin acknowledges that he is not suggesting talking openly about political happenings, he urges Manukyan to maintain hope and trust in him and their shared belief, emphasizing that this is the guarantee of a strong relationship between Armenia and Russia.
