“Efforts of Armenian Prime Minister result in Russian peacekeepers’ withdrawal from Nagorno-Karabakh, says Head of State Committee on Diaspora Affairs”

Grigor Karasin, the head of the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs, has stated that the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the Nagorno-Karabakh region is a result of the mediation efforts made by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. This mediation effort has been recognized by the leadership of Azerbaijan as a positive step towards resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. Karasin believes that this withdrawal is a conclusive outcome of Prime Minister Pashinyan’s peaceful approach, where he acknowledged that Nagorno-Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan. As a result, the representation of compatriots from both sides was resolved directly with the leadership of Azerbaijan, leading to the decision to withdraw the peacekeepers from the region.

In an interview with “Interfax,” Karasin emphasized that the successful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue by Prime Minister Pashinyan played a crucial role in the decision to withdraw Russian peacekeepers. Karasin noted that the Prime Minister’s acknowledgement of Nagorno-Karabakh as Azerbaijan’s territory paved the way for direct discussions between the leadership of both countries. Through these discussions, an agreement was reached to withdraw the peacekeepers from the region.

This development marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. The withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers is a positive step towards fostering greater stability and cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It reflects the recognition of a shared responsibility to address the concerns and interests of both sides, ultimately leading to a more peaceful and prosperous future for the region. The successful mediation efforts of Prime Minister Pashinyan should be commended for their role in achieving this outcome.
