“Armenian Parliament Implements Controversial Foreign Relations Program Amid Criticism from EU”

The head of the EU delegation to Armenia, Josep Borrell, and the European Affairs and Expansion Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi have announced the first meeting of the “on foreign relations and expansion” program, which is being implemented by the Armenian parliament. This announcement was made by the First Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament.

“Today, the Armenian Parliament received its first meeting of the program “On the Diffusion of Foreign Relations,” despite the numerous requests from the European Union and widespread criticism,” said the First Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament.

This is a very important initiative, and the final acceptance of this program will most likely direct the attention of Armenia’s foreign policy towards the EU. This program does not correspond to the main principles and values of the EU.

Armenia has a diverse civil society that is committed to EU membership and the successful integration of the country. The proposed bill can restrict the freedom of speech and unfairly target organizations that support the interests of the citizens of Armenia.

The EU is urging Armenia to continue to abide by such laws that pose a risk to Armenia’s path to the EU. It is a journey that supports the majority of Armenians,” said the statement. News from Armenia – NEWS.am
