Yerevan Takes Steps Towards Better Waste Management and Sanitation: 250 Suggestions Discussed and Transferred to Municipal Districts

Improvements in waste management and sanitation in Yerevan were the main topics discussed at a recent meeting of the community initiative group. During the meeting held on April 16, community leaders presented 250 suggestions to the administration of municipal districts. The focus of these suggestions was to address issues related to solid waste management and sanitation in the city. The meeting also included plans for undisclosed projects.

At a press conference in Yerevan, Arman Babajanyan, a member of the “Civic Accord” group, expressed concern about the potential impact of neglected areas in the city on the workers responsible for waste management. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that sanitation workers are not affected by the negligence of certain parts of the city. Armenian Prime Minister Arman Pambukhchyan explained that these workers, commonly referred to as “union workers,” are responsible for various activities related to waste management in the city.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the concerns raised and highlighted the potential harm that inexperienced and uninformed workers might cause. He mentioned that there is a plan in place for some of these workers to participate in the “Sanitation and Environmental Protection” course offered by HEK to improve their skills and knowledge.

These discussions and initiatives signify the government’s commitment to improving waste management and sanitation in Yerevan. By addressing the concerns of the community and investing in the education and training of workers, the city strives to create a cleaner and healthier environment for its residents.
