“Controversy Arises: Allegations of Political Appointment Surround National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Director”

Christina Vardanyan, the interim director of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, has been overseeing various renovations, including the restoration of the Matos Monastery church, for almost two years. Today, during a press conference with journalists, Ani Khachatryan, the head of the “Republic of Armenia” faction in the Yerevan City Council, made an announcement. According to Khachatryan, Vardanyan is currently working with Hak Martuni, the wife of Hayk Marutyan, who appointed her as the head of the museum. Khachatryan also mentioned that Vardanyan was initially intended to have a more prominent role within the museum but the situation changed with a change in the mayor’s office.

In response to a question about who sent the official letter to Vardanyan, who recently declared her membership in the “national pre-election alliance” during a press conference, Khachatryan stated that Vardanyan was no longer working at the museum at that time. Khachatryan further explained that this was after the collapse of the Marutyan administration. It is worth noting that Vardanyan is currently a member of the “national public movement” alliance.
